| NEWS July 2008 |
July 01, 2008 - We had a busy but successful June, now we're preparing for our July
Specialty being held in Locke, NY. Pre-entry for this show close July 07. We've got some
fabulous donations for our Specialty Trophies and our Large Item Raffle. Our members have
been working overtime to make this event a success. Will Chrzanowski (Hospitality
Chairperson) has just about completed all the Thank You notes from our 2nd Annual Boxer
Specialty. Please take a moment to read this month's Featured Article.
July 03, 2008 - Top Ten has been updated to correctly reflect the UKC's current posted
standings. Congratulations to Bernard and Ruth Atkins for earning a ranking! We received
another Best Of Breed Trophy for our July Specialty, and are still receiving more items for
our Large Item Raffle!
July 04, 2008 - Have a Safe and Happy 4th of July! Remember that as much as our Boxers
LOVE a good BBQ, sometimes the activities of the 4th can be stressful. Please keep them
safe, protected, and healthy by bringing them indoors for the fireworks, limit their
play/interaction in the heat (try adding some Pedialyte to their water), limit their intake of
items from the buffet table to avoid upset tummies later, we all KNOW how tangible Boxers
are but sometimes little children mauling our Boxers in the heat and excitement can be a little
unnerving, just like children - keep a safe distance between your Boxer(s) and the grill, make
sure that there is plenty of shade, and be thankful that in this Country we still have the
OPTION to CHOOSE to be FREE with our Boxers!
July 06, 2008 - We've added a great Long Sleeve Tee to our "ON SALE NOW" page! This
tee is perfect for fall weather, hanging out at shows (we don't want to dirty our show outfits),
breaking down at a show, kennel work, and just strutting your stuff!
July 09, 2008 - The Great Lakes Boxer Club is so fortunate to have the support of wonderful
friends like Cathy Anthony of Triple XXX German Shepherds. Cathy has generously donated
an AWESOME Dunkin Donuts gift basket to our Large Item Raffle at our July Specialty! We
are all doing the Boxer Happy Dance for Cathy! Thank you, Cathy and Magic!
July 12, 2008 - Thank you to our members who have have replenished our stock of candid
photographs for our website! We were running low on the photos we use to decorate the
pages in our website and our members gladly stepped up to the plate with more candids.
Without our members, this website would not be possible.
July 13, 2008 - We are currently discussing working on making a page in our website
dedicated to our Junior Membership. This project is very important to us. Without our
Juniors, the fate of our club and breed would look dim. The membership is fully supportive
and we hope to get this project up and running within the next few weeks.
July 18, 2008 - Top Ten has been updated to correctly reflect the UKC's current posted
standings. We are here in Locke, NY! Thank you to Will Chrzanowski for graciously
providing us with his laptop to "stay connected" for the weekend. We will attempt to post
results each evening.
July 19, 2008 - Our July Specialty was great! We met some wonderful new people, and
caught up with our old friends. There were 2 outstanding acts of kindness at our Specialty -
both involved the Juniors. Kevin Gibbs graciously offered his Boxer to a new Junior who's
initial entry was unable to make the ring. This act of kindness probably changed this young
person's view of showing. Our second act of kindness was between 2 Junior Handlers.
Kasie Lopes (Open Junior) came to the rescue of one of her fellow Junior Exhibitors, offering
her own dog. This is what makes the UKC different, this is what makes us special.
July 20, 2008 - The Large Item Raffle was a hit! We raised some much needed $$$$, and
the winner took home a whole lot of loot! Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
July 21, 2008 - Thank you to Tina Reed for volunteering to take pictures with her camera,
and Jason Augustine and Cathy Anthony for snapping off a few shots when Tina was
unavailable. Jason will be busy this week burning a CD of the Specialty pictures for us, and
will hand deliver them this coming weekend. We hope to have all Specialty pictures uploaded
to the site by the end of the month. Will Chrzanowski (Hospitality Chair) has all of the Thank
You notes ready to go out.
July 28, 2008 - The July Specialty photos are finally up! Our "camera crew" snapped some
really nice photographs with Tina's camera that she used for the Specialty. Click here to
read some comments on our Specialty and our Juniors. We've worked ourselves silly these
past few months on the Specialties. Perhaps we'll take a week to catch our breath, then I'm
sure we'll be back to work! We've got a few things in the wings waiting for discussion, and
then there is always another Specialty.
