April 01, 2009 - We are now taking entries for our 3rd Annual Boxer Specialty held in
conjunction with the 2009 UKC Premier. Pre-entry closes May 23, 2009. Once again, our
Heath and Education Committee has put together a very affordable Health Clinic available
to all breeds. This is PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY! Pre-registration for our Health Clinic
will close on May 30, 2009. Please make sure to pre-register early to ensure a time slot
for your dog(s). Knowing is part of the solution!
April 02, 2009 - Our Community Service project, Boxers For Boobies, started as a club
project on a volunteer basis. The overwhelming support of fanciers has encouraged us to
extend an invitation to participate to non-club members, and the response has been more
than positive! The UKC has requested the 16th Annual UKC PREMIER to be added to our
list of shows where we will be collecting for our Boxers For Boobies campaign.
April 15, 2009 - June is a big month for the GLBC and it's members, and it is quickly
approaching! Chris Fleisher (Trophy Chairperson) has been busy photographing our lovely
Trophy Donations for our 3rd Annual Boxer Specialty. Rebecca Kunz has offered
trophies/prizes for Best Male and Best Female. Steve and Mary Quinn has offered many
beautiful hand crafted wood trophies/prizes (these will be posted as soon as Chris sorts
them out), and Chris is (once again) crafting additional trophies/prizes. Marge Gubry
(Health and Education Committee Chairperson) is busy taking registrations for our Health
Clinic. Will Chrzanowski (Merit/Excellence Program Chairperson) is working on certificates
for the GLBC Boxers of Merit/Excellence Program inductees. Tina Reed (Ribbon
Committee Chairperson) is browsing for beautiful ribbons, and has graciously offered
Morgan to make space for our Specialty in their "storage unit".
April 17, 2009 - Top Ten Standings have been updated to correctly reflect the current
UKC rankings. The Great Lakes Boxer Club's Community Service project, Boxers For
Boobies, has a current total pledged of $597.00! A HUGE GLBC thank you to all of the
participants who have committed to this worthy cause!
April 18, 2009 - CONGRATULATIONS to Debra Harrah on becoming MRS. Debra
HENKLE on April 11, 2009! We wish you long life (always filled with Boxers, of course),
love, happiness, and prosperity.
April 24, 2009 - Top Ten Standings have been updated to correctly reflect the current UKC
rankings. Registrations for our Health Clinic are rolling in.
April 28, 2009 - Trained N' Talented Canines held a Boxers For Boobies Challenge at their
Agility Trials this past weekend. Agility Exhibitors donated $80.00 in qualifying scores, and
Trained N' Talented Canines matched each dollar donated - for a grand total of $190.00 for
our Boxers For Boobies Campaign! The GLBC and it's members would like to thank the
exhibitors and Trained N' Talented Canines for their generous support!
